| About Us After more than five years of research, planning and development
by educators and parents, Three Oaks Public School Academy (TOPS)
opened in 2003 with 90 students and now houses 300 students.
Three Oaks Public School Academy is managed by
Choice Schools Associates and is authorized by Bay Mills Community
College to offer kindergarten through fifth grade education for a maximum enrollment of 300 students. How is Three Oaks Public School unique? The fundamental belief of TOPS is that all children are capable of achieving excellence in their academic endeavors and can be prepared for active citizenship in their communities. We empower all students with the academic knowledge and skills, work habits, and character traits to gain access to the American Dream. TOPS believes that mastery of curriculum will be achieved by extensive hands-on activities, project-based learning, and cooperative learning activities. Unlike traditional public schools, text books are used as resources, not as the sole source for student learning. In addition, the Academy Board stands firm for safe, secure schools and has implemented a detailed discipline structure and behavior rubric designed to apply individualized prevention of discipline issues, yet maintain consistency of consequences. Organization for Student Learning Three Oaks Public School is organized as K-5 self contained classrooms. Resource room teachers are also available to provide specialized assistance to students—as well as other personnel capable of making students’ experiences at TOPS positive and productive. Special education programs are delivered in compliance with federal and state laws. Students that come to TOPS with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) are welcome and are assured that the school will provide a free, appropriate education program using an inclusion model for providing services. Qualified Teachers Design Individual Plans to Meet the Needs of Students We are proud of our highly qualified teaching staff and their ability to recognize the needs of each student! Teachers work with each student and his or her parents to create an individual student learning plan that:
- Identifies the student’s learning style strengths using the multiple intelligences
- Sets individual goals
- Develops strategies
- Identifies responsibilities
- Provides methods of evaluation
